Arthur George Ziffo
Arthur George Ziffo (born August 11, 1858 in London , † unknown) was an English tennis player.
Career
Ziffo, who was never able to devote himself entirely to tennis due to business obligations, reached the All-Comers final of the British Indoor Championships in 1887 . From 1888 to 1890 he won the Eastbourne tournament . During the same period, Ziffo also competed at the Wimbledon Championships , in which he advanced to the quarterfinals in singles in 1889. In the doubles competition at Wimbledon he reached the semifinals in 1888 on the side of Ernest George Meers . In 1891 he lost in the final of Eastbourne Harry Sibthorpe Barlow and ended his tennis career in the same year.
Ziffo, who was rather short, often came to the net to play off his strength, volley .
