Arthur Möller (born January 25, 1863 in Fischersdorf, Principality of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt , † after October 1903 in Eichicht , Thuringia ) was a German composer and conductor .

life and work

Möller was Kapellmeister in Baden from 1888 and as such directed the spa orchestra, which played twice a day in the casino concerts. In these Möller often worked as a violinist and pianist and also played his own compositions such as the operetta Slippers and Turban , an opera Magdalena as well as a Notturno and Spanish serenade for string orchestra . In addition, the Kurkapelle had to take over the orchestral part of the operas and operettas of the Kurtheater twice. In 1890, 29 different operas were performed in 56 performances.

From 1899 to 1903 Möller was employed by the casino company all year round and from 1901 earned an annual salary of 30,550 Swiss francs . In addition, there were special allowances for participating in concerts by local associations or at Catholic church services. In 1903 Möller offered his extensive music fund to the city for sale. The municipal council decided to buy it for 5,000 Swiss francs. As a result of a sudden serious illness, Möller had to give up the job and the sale no longer took place. Möller returned to his homeland, where he died soon after.
