Arthur Paul , called "Art" (born January 18, 1925 in Chicago , Illinois ; † April 28, 2018 there ) was an American graphic designer .

Life

Paul studied from 1940 to 1943 at the Art Institute of Chicago and then at the Institute of Design (1946–1950).

The distinctive symbol of the men's magazine Playboy , the Bunny, was created by Art Paul. Hugh Hefner , founder of the magazine, met Paul in Chicago shortly before the first issue was published in 1953. Playboy's first art director created the well-known rabbit head with ears and bow tie in 1953. This logo has been on the front page since the second issue of Playboy.

1986 Art Paul was solemnly into the Hall of Fame of the Art Directors Club of New York was added.
