Arthur Weiss (medical doctor)

Arthur Weiss (* 1953 ) is an American physician ( immunology ).

Weiss studied human medicine at the University of Chicago , graduating in 1978 (Ph.D.) and MD in 1979. He has been researching at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute since 1982 .

He is professor of medicine and microbiology at the University of California, San Francisco , where he heads the rheumatology research facility .

Weiss has been a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences since 2003 and of the European Molecular Biology Organization since 2017 . In 2019 he received the William B. Coley Award .
