Arthur van Dijk

Arthur van Dijk (born February 3, 1963 in Dordrecht ) is a Dutch politician of the conservative-liberal Volkspartij voor Vrijheid en Democratie (VVD). Since January 7, 2019, he has held the post of Commissioner of the King ( Dutch commissaris van de Koning ) for the province of Noord-Holland .

biography

Van Dijk studied tax law at the University of Leiden and then worked in various functions for the ministries of justice and finance. Among other things, he worked for the Fiscale inlichtingen- en opsporingsdienst , the investigation service of the Dutch tax authorities. He then sat for the VVD as a wethouder (in German: "Associate") in the College van burgemeester en wethouders of the municipality of Haarlemmermeer , where he dealt with matters relating to Schiphol Airport, among other things . From 2013 to 2018 he was general chairman of Transport en Logistiek Nederland , the employers' organization for Dutch transport and logistics companies.

At the end of 2018, van Dijk was proposed by the Provinciale Staten of the province of Noord-Holland as a candidate for the successor to the resigned commissioner of King Johan Remkes . After the Dutch Council of Ministers had given its approval, van Dijk was sworn in by King Willem-Alexander on December 5, 2018 and took office on January 7, 2019.
