Arti & Mestieri is an Italian fusion and progressive rock band that was formed in Turin in 1974 .
Band history
Band founder Furio Chirico formed Arti & Mestieri after he left The Trip with musicians from other Italian jazz and fusion bands. The debut album appeared in the founding year, the second album followed in 1975 and helped the band to break through in the Italo-Prog scene. Nevertheless, it took four years to the third album, which was recorded with a different line-up and approached the mainstream. It was not a success and the line-up broke up.
Chirico continued the band with various musicians in the 1980s, and in the 1990s he devoted himself to a solo career and worked as a drum teacher. In 2000 he reformed Arti & Mestieri with several musicians from the first two albums. As a result, unpublished demos, new studio material and live recordings appeared.
