Artsimovich is a small impact crater in western Mare Imbrium . The circular crater forms a cup-shaped cavity in the surface of the mare . Its neighbors are Diophantus to the east and Delisle to the northeast. Approx. The tiny Fedorov crater is located 20 kilometers north-northeast .
Artsimovich was known as 'Diophantus A' before he was given his own name by the IAU in 1973 .
It is named after the Soviet physicist Lev Andreevich Arzimowitsch .
