Artur Völkl

Artur Völkl (born April 29, 1947 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian legal historian .

Life

Artur Völkl studied law at the University of Innsbruck and received his doctorate in 1971 . He then worked as an assistant at the Institute for Roman Law there and at times at the Innsbruck Regional Court . In 1983 he qualified as a professor for Roman law and historical comparative law . In 1991 he was appointed associate professor of Roman law and in 1998 full professor.

Völkl's research focus is Roman law and the development of European private law.
