Aryeh chaplain

Aryeh Kaplan (born October 23, 1934 in New York City ; died January 28, 1983 in Brooklyn ) was an Orthodox American rabbi and writer. He is recognized as an unusually productive and original teacher. His work ranges from studies on the Torah and Talmud to works on mysticism and philosophy. He has published over 50 books on topics of Jewish mysticism and religion .

biography

Kaplan was born in the Bronx as a descendant of a Sephardic family from Saloniki with roots in Recanati and studied at Jewish institutions in Brooklyn and then in Jerusalem . He was also a rabbi ordained . He was also at times the editor of Jewish Life Magazine . Before that, he obtained a master's degree in physics and became the youngest physicist to work for the government, but decided to devote himself entirely to teaching the Torah. On January 28, 1983, he died unexpectedly at the age of only 48.
