Arzachel is an impact crater on the front of the moon east of Mare Nubium , south of Alphonsus crater and north of Purbach . The crater is located near the center of the moon . It has a diameter of 96 km and a depth of about 3,600 m. In the crater there is a central mountain approx. 1,500 m high.
Inside the crater there is a series of fractures, the Rimae Arzachel .

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Arab mathematician and astronomer Al-Zarqali .
