As Hope This was a metalcore band from Orange County, California, formed in 2000 . The only permanent member was singer and front man David Richardson.

history

As Hope Dies was founded in 2000 in the southern California city of La Habra . Two years later, the first EP , Birthplace and Burial Site, was released through Undecided Records in May 2002.

The recordings for the debut album Legions Bow to a Faceless God began in February 2003. It was released a few months later, in July 2003, also via Undecided Records. The band disbanded shortly afterwards, until they reunited around a year later with a new line-up in August 2004.

In May 2005 the final dissolution was announced. The final concert took place on May 23, 2005 in Corona, California . The second EP As Hope This was originally intended to be a full studio album, but this was no longer due to the dissolution.

In January 2007, the album Legions Bow to a Faceless God was re-released as a limited gatefold vinyl with an edition of 500 copies by the Forest Moon Special Products label.

style

As Hope Dies played classic Melodic Death Metal reminiscent of the genre's pioneering bands, In Flames , Soilwork and At the Gates . Influences from bands like Dissection , Shai Hulud and Prayer for Cleansing can also be found. Unusual in the genre, solos are not part of the compositions, but there are a variety of sophisticated riffs and melodies.

Her lyrics contain mostly anti-religious content as well as nihilistic characteristics and also deal with difficulties with her own personalities.
