Asbjørn Jordahl

Asbjørn Reidar Jordahl (born December 12, 1932 in Kristiansund ) is a Norwegian journalist and politician of the Arbeiderpartiet (Ap). From January 1978 to October 1979 he was the transport minister of his country.

Life

After finishing secondary school, Jordahl worked from 1949 to 1952 as a laboratory assistant in the industrial laboratory in Kristiansund. Then he was in the years 1953 to 1958 as a clerk operates. From 1959 to 1968 he wrote as a journalist for the newspaper Tidens Krav . From 1958 to 1961 and again from 1964 to 1967 he was part of the board of the youth organization Arbeidernes Ungdomsfylking (AUF). From 1963 to 1979 he was a member of the local parliament of his home municipality. He was mayor of Kristiansund between 1967 and 1977. Between 1967 and 1975 he was also a member of the Fylkesting von Møre og Romsdal . From 1965 to 1973 he sat on the executive committee of his party.

In the legislative period from 1977 to 1981 he represented the province of Møre og Romsdal in the Norwegian parliament, the Storting . On January 11, 1978 he was appointed Minister of Transport in the Nordli government. He took over the post from Ragnar Christiansen , who had been appointed Fylkesrådmann. He held the office until October 8, 1979.

After the end of his time at Storting, he returned to his job in journalism. From 1981 to 1999 he worked as an editor in various positions. In 2002 he was awarded the Defense Medal of Merit for International Operations. From 2003 to 2007 he was again a member of the local parliament of Kristiansund.
