The Ascheloch is a cave near Mittelstreu, a district of the Lower Franconian municipality of Oberstreu in the Rhön-Grabfeld district in Bavaria .

It is located on the steep slope of the Eiersberg near Mittelstreu , a district of Oberstreu in Lower Franconia . Behind her is the former military training area of the Mellrichstadt garrison . It itself is a crack in the limestone and narrows so much after 10 meters that a strong man can no longer get through. There are two holes next to it, but they don't lead to caves.

particularities

After a good 15 meters, the cave branches in a Y-shape into two branches that are also about 15 meters long. An interesting phenomenon is that the cave amplifies the noise of the trains running along the Schweinfurt – Meiningen railway line below .
