Aschot Aschotowitsch Mndojanz

Ashot Ashotovich Mndojanz ( Russian Ашот Ашотович Мндоянц * December 28, 1909 . Jul / 10. January  1910 greg. In Batumi , Russian Empire ; † 29. September 1966 in Moscow , Soviet Union ) was a Russian-Soviet architect and urban planner who with Michail Possochin and other architects designed a large number of large projects in Moscow. While they were designing their first projects in the style of socialist classicism , their architectural language changed to modernity in the 1960s .

Life

Mndojanz studied at the Faculty of Architecture of the Polytechnic of Fine Arts and at the Institute for Civil Engineers and Civil Engineers in Odessa (1928 to 1932). From 1932 to 1935 he worked in Batumi, where he was the city's chief architect from 1934 to 1935. Then he went to Moscow. There he worked under Alexei Shchusev .

In 1941 he took part in the construction of defenses in Moscow. In 1945 he was involved in the reconstruction of the Moscow City Hall . In the 1960s he worked with Mikhail Possochin on various major projects in Moscow.

He was buried in the Novodevichy Cemetery in Moscow after his death in 1966 .
