Ascomorpha ovalis is a species of the genus Ascomorpha from the stem of the rotifers (Rotatoria).
description
The animals are 100 to 200 µm long and have an oval body. They are footless and without an intestine or anus. Ascomorpha ovalis feeds on dinoflagellates , which it clasps with hook-shaped buttons and pierces with its pointed jaw. The dinoflagellates are then sucked out by pumping the chewing device.
