The Azerbaijani folk dance symbolizes different feelings, above all, the globally appreciated hospitality of the Orient, friendship, the unity of the people, the exuberance of the young girls and bravery of the young men, the joy of life.

Many dances tell of the awakening of spring and love through the extraordinarily beautiful, plastic, sensual and graceful movements of the girls in the dance, some of them have a funny and exuberant character. The sensitive music is important, accompanied by the unique oriental singing.

Among other things, the Caucasian passionate, fiery and heroic male dances are famous, which are performed with knives and proud heads, technically flawless and spirited by the courageous dancers, whereby each individual dancer tries to prove his dancing skills.

Often these dances are accompanied by the hot rhythms of the drums , which immediately cast a spell on the audience, fully inspire and fascinate them.

The old wedding dances, which are based on folklore music and the customs and traditions associated with it, play a special role in Azerbaijan . B. Preparing for a wedding is an important part of the dance.

These dances are performed in large circles holding hands and are particularly effective due to the synchronous hand movements and extraordinary steps.

Also known are the fantasy dances, which have typical oriental elements and movements and are mainly danced by the young girls with their floating, graceful and feather-light movements.
