Asger Leth

Asger Leth (* 1970 ) is a Danish film director and screenwriter.

Asger Leth is the son of film editor Ann Bierlich and filmmaker and poet Jørgen Leth . His half-sister was the actress Stine Bierlich. The qualified lawyer learned to direct as a self- taught.

Asger Leth co-wrote the film The Five Obstructions (original title: De fem benspænd) in 2003 . In this feature-length film, Jørgen Leth tries to reinterpret his best-known short film Det Perfekt menneske / The Perfect Man from 1967. Lars von Trier imposes restrictions on how the film should be re-implemented. In 2006 he was recognized by the Directors' Guild of America as the director of his first documentary, Ghosts of Cité Soleil . In 2011 he made his feature film debut A Risky Plan (original title: Man on a Ledge), an American thriller.

Asger Leth mainly works as a commercial film director. He began his career for TV and cinema spots as the personal assistant to his best friend Nicolai Fuglsig. As a director he realized commercials for the betting company "Danish Games", an international commercial series for Carlsberg and a campaign against sex tourism. For Mercedes , Leth designed the web special “Concert in E” as a director, an award-winning interactive advertising campaign for the Mercedes E-Class. He shot the episode film Move On for Deutsche Telekom .
