Ashern is a small community in Manitoba , Canada . The place is about 160 km north of Winnipeg on Highway 6 and Lake Manitoba . The PR 325 also runs through Ashern. About 3 km south of the village is the "Ashern Airport".

Ashern was named in 1918 after the railroad worker AS Hern. Today Ashern is dominated by tourism, it has three beaches on Lake Manitoba and with the surrounding lakes (Manitoba Lake, Dog Lake and Lake St. Martin) there are good fishing and fishing opportunities and opportunities for all kinds of water sports. The area also offers hunting opportunities, especially for geese and ducks. Various sports fields and halls are available, including a 9-hole golf course. Ashern offers a variety of accommodation options (including a campsite) and restaurants. With the "Ashern Pioneer Museum", Ashern has a local history museum with 3880 exhibits. The museum's collection is spread over five buildings, the Anglican Church, the Post Office, the Darwin School, the CN Building and the RM Building. The exhibits were donated by residents of Ashern. The museum is open from June to September. In June there will be a barbecue to mark the opening of the museum. In addition to tourism, Ashern is the economic center of the surrounding communities.

The Annual Ashern Rodeo and Ashern Horse Show take place every year on Labor Day .

Ashern has its own hospital with the "Lakeshore General Hospital".

The actor Adam Beach was born here.
