Ashley "Coops" Cooper (born July 11, 1980 in Sydney , † February 25, 2008 in Adelaide ) was an Australian racing driver .

Career

Cooper began his racing career in 1998. Seven years later, he led the Commodore Cup for a long time, finishing fourth overall at the end of the series. In 2006 Cooper was named Rookie of the Year of the V8 Ute Racing Series and in 2007 he competed in three laps of the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series .

Death in Adelaide

During a race in the Fujitsu V8 ​​Supercar Series on the Adelaide Street Circuit , he came off the road with his Holden Commodore VZ at over 200 km / h and hit the guardrails. Despite receiving immediate medical attention, Cooper died two days later at the Royal Adelaide Hospital of his head and internal injuries.
