Asinius
Asinius is the noun of the originally plebeian gens Asinia in the Roman Empire . Their representatives are from the 1st century BC. Chr. Attested. The family came from Teate Marrucinorum (today's Chieti ). The politician and historian Gaius Asinius Pollio, who lived in the late republic and early imperial times , was best known . Since the era of the emperor Augustus , the members of the gens belonged to the patricians . The Italian city of Assignano derives its name from a bearer of the name Asinius .
