Asopodoros (sculptor II)
Asopodoros ( ancient Greek Ἀσωπόδωρος ) was a Greek sculptor, probably from Argos , who worked in the second half of the 5th century BC. Was active.
He is known from a list of the students of Polykleitos in Olympia , which begins with Argium Asopodorum . It is unclear whether the first word is the rare case of a prefix of the ethnicon , indicating its origin from Argos, or whether it is about another sculptor named Argeios .
Another sculptor named Asopodoros is attested on a statue base found in Olympia. If there is no confusion, it may be an ancestor of Asopodorus.
