List of the Governors of Tripura
The following table lists the governors of Tripura with their respective terms of office. Tripura became part of the Indian Union on October 15, 1949 and from November 1, 1956, was administered as a Union territory under the direction of a Chief Commissioner. With the reorganization of northeast India after the Bangladesh War , Tripura became a federal state on January 21, 1972, as did Meghalaya and Manipur . The governor of Assam was then also responsible for these three states until 1981 , after which there was a joint governor for Tripura and Manipur until 1989.
