Coming from a noble Phanariotic family, she married King Alexander I on November 4, 1919 and from then on carried the title Princess Aspasia (Πριγκίπισσα Ασπασία). On October 25, 1920, her husband died of blood poisoning from a monkey bite. At this point she was already pregnant and gave birth to her only child Princess Alexandra , who later became the wife of King Peter II of Yugoslavia , on March 25, 1921 .

She was first buried in the San Michele Cemetery in Venice and later transferred to the Royal Cemetery in Tatoi , where she was buried next to her daughter.
