Asquith is a small town in the Saskatchewan Province of Canada. It is located within the municipality of Vanscoy No. 345 located approximately 33 km west of Saskatoon. Highway 14 runs near the village .
The area around the place was first settled at the beginning of the 20th century by the Canadian pioneers Jennet and Andrew Mather. 1907 Asquith was granted the status as a village ( Village ), before it was appointed a year later to the city.
Townscape
Asquith is a town ( Town ) with 639 people (as of 2016) and extends over an area of 449.6 km². There are two churches in the center; the Baptist Church and the United Church and a parish. All of these institutions are catholic houses of worship. Asquith has a kindergarten and a high school. Eagle Creek Regional Park in the northwest of the city near Highway 376 is a popular destination. In addition, the village offers a variety of leisure and recreational opportunities.
Agriculture is the main livelihood with 90%. Many of the people living in Asquith work in Saskatoon, 33 km away . Another place of work is the nearby Kalimiene.
Demographics
According to the 2006 census, Asquith had approximately 576 residents. By 2011 this number increased by 4.7% from 576 to 603. At the same time, the area increased from 469.4 km² to 491.4 km². According to the last census from 2016, 639 people currently live in Asquith.
