The volcanic group asacha ( Russian Асача ) is a complex mountain range west-southwest of the volcano Mutnovsky . The volcanic group consists of the old shield volcano asacha, the stratovolcano Scholty (Russian Жёлтый ) to the east, the younger craters Tumanow and today's young volcanic asacha. Ten lava domes are located on the flanks of the Assacha volcanic group. Most of them, as well as several basaltic cinder cones and lava flows on the western and southern flanks of the Assacha Complex, formed in the Pleistocene and Holocene . In 1983 a strong tectonic earthquake occurred in the area of the Scholty Volcano, suggesting that the area is still volcanically active.
