Asteas (active between 350 and 320 BC in Paestum ) was a Greek vase painter who worked in southern Italy and one of the main exponents of Paestan vase painting . He was in charge of a large workshop in which mainly hydrates and craters were painted. He mainly painted mythological and theater scenes. He was one of the few vase painters who were known by name and who worked in ancient Italy.
