Asterope (daughter of Atlas)
Asterope ( Greek Ἀστερόπη ) or Sterope ( Στερόπη ) is one of the Pleiades in Greek mythology .
She is a nymph and daughter of Atlas and the Oceanid Pleione . Through Ares she became the mother of Oinomaos , king of Pisa in Elis . In other stories, she was the wife of Oinomaos or, together with her sisters, was persecuted by Orion for a long time and finally saved by Zeus by turning them all into doves and placing them in the sky as seven stars.
