Astrid Springer

Astrid Springer (born July 4, 1950 in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe ) is a German lawyer and journalist. Since 1985 she has been working as a radio journalist for ARD with a focus on legal and social policy.

Life

Astrid Springer studied law at the University of Hamburg and passed both state exams. As part of her legal clerkship, she completed a six-month stay abroad at the German-Canadian Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Toronto, Canada. From 1979 to 1980 Astrid Springer worked as an assessor, most recently at the Federal Ministry of Food in Bonn. Her area of ​​expertise was the " Washington Convention on the Protection of Species ". This includes the protection of animal and plant species that are endangered by international trade. From 1981 to 1983 she completed a "postgraduate course in journalism" with a minor in German at the University of Mainz , where she received a scholarship from Elisabeth Noelle-Neumann .

Astrid Springer reported as a radio journalist from 1985 to 1986 at the Federal Court of Justice in Karlsruhe and the Federal Constitutional Court . In the course of her professional life, the "structural discrimination" of mothers became the focus of her work. Today Astrid Springer works as a fully qualified lawyer for women's rights and as a freelance journalist, especially for the ARD radio. Her focus is on legal and social policy, in particular on the role of women in law and society. She publishes articles in daily newspapers and specialist journals and gives lectures. She lives and works in the Hanseatic city of Hamburg .

Astrid Springer has been campaigning for women's rights and anti-discrimination since the 1980s. In her reporting, she accompanies socio-political developments, often with reference to the Basic Law, and deals with them critically.

  • 1997: Press award from the German Lawyers' Association for their broadcast on Hessischer Rundfunk "The Family - A Report on the Contrast between Law and Reality".
  • 2014: Juliane Bartel Media Prize of the State of Lower Saxony for her broadcast on Radio Berlin Brandenburg "Despite working poor in old age."
  • 2017: 2nd prize of the Aeternitas journalist competition "Friedhof heute" with the entry: "' His life was music. Your life was work' - The small difference between men and women in funeral culture ".
