Asunafo District

The Asunafo District is a former district in the Brong-Ahafo Region in Ghana with the district capital Goaso . The district already existed under colonial rule in the British colony of Gold Coast since 1912. It was not until the decree of November 12, 2003 by President John Agyekum Kufuor that the district was divided into two new districts as part of the administrative reform in 2004.

The area around the old district capital Goaso became the Asunafo North District , the more southern part the Asunafo South District , which has belonged to the Ahafo Region since 2018 .

In the 2000 census, this district had a population of around 171,709 in an area of ​​2,119 km².
