Atanas Kirov ( Bulgarian Атанас Киров ; born November 24, 1946 in Burgas ; † January 27, 2017 ) was a Bulgarian weightlifter . He was multiple world and European champion.

At the 1969 World Weightlifting Championships , he won the silver medal in the weight class up to 56 kilograms. In 1971 he came third in the push. In 1973 , with a new world record, he won the world championship, which he was able to defend in 1974 and 1975 . In 1969, 1973, 1974 and 1975 he was also European champion in the all- around bantamweight championship . He took part in the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City and the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich and took seventh and fifth place respectively.
