Atarot (Bible)
Atarot ( Hebrew / Moabite עטר (ו) ת) is a biblically and extra-biblically documented ancient place name, which refers to at least two places:
- A town east of the Jordan ( Num 32.3 LUT and 32.34 LUT , also in) Mesha Stele is called. It is mostly identified with the Chirbet Ataruz .
- A city west of the Jordan in the Ephraimitic mountain country ( Jos 16,2 LUT and 16,7 LUT ). This Atarot is probably identical to the place mentioned in Jos 16,5 LUT and 18,13 LUT Atrot-Addar .
