The Atelier School Zurich on Plattenstrasse in Zurich was founded in 2003 as a middle school of the Rudolf Steiner School Sihlau and the Rudolf Steiner School Zurich . Since the 2009/2010 school year, the Rudolf Steiner School Winterthur has been the third sponsoring school. The Atelierschule Zürich offers the IMS (Integrative Middle School) course and is the only Waldorf school in Switzerland to offer a cantonal and federally recognized school- leaving certificate . Around 280 students are taught together. The school buildings are located at Plattenstrasse 33, 37, 50, 52 and 77 and at Zürichbergstrasse 27.

Sponsoring association

The purpose of the association is: "The purpose of the sponsoring association, founded in 2003 with the Atelier School, is to create the sponsorship of the Atelier School Zurich, which aims to support, develop and promote the Atelier School as an independent secondary school in the sense of Rudolf Steiner's pedagogy. The sponsoring association is based on a cooperation agreement with Rudolf Steiner schools in Sihlau, Winterthur and Zurich, which together with the Atelierschule form a school association. The association is non-denominational and does not pursue any profit-making purpose. The association manages the financial resources and promotes the school as a non-profit and publicly accessible educational institution. " Members of the sponsoring association are the school associations of the Rudolf Steiner Schools in Sihlau, Winterthur and Zurich as legal entities and interested parents, teachers, school friends and sponsors. The board is elected by the general assembly and consists of active or former parents and experts from outside who want to support the interests of the studio school. The college forms an independent body of the association, which the school management elects. The business of the association is conducted in close cooperation with the school management and staff. A control body checks the annual accounts of the association.

financing

The Atelierschule Zürich is a private school and is financed by parental contributions. These are paid per family and are income-related. Families who come from one of the three supporting schools Sihlau, Zurich or Winterthur make their family contributions in accordance with the parent's contribution regulations of the respective supporting school. If the family comes from another Rudolf Steiner school in Switzerland, the school fee is paid to the respective home school, which then pays the contribution to the Zurich Atelier School. For families who come neither from a sponsoring school nor from a regular school, the family contribution is agreed with the Parents Contribution Commission (EBK). The family contribution is usually between 600 and 2600 francs per month and family. The costs for school materials and internships are not included in the parental contributions. If a family cannot cover the full school costs themselves, a pre-financing loan can be obtained from the Zurich Rudolf Steiner Schools Foundation .

Student forum

The student forum is the platform for students' concerns and events. It is composed of two delegates per class who work with college members. In the student forum, reviews of lessons and school culture as well as reports on organization and infrastructure are prepared every semester. Events such as policy panel discussions or lectures are organized on a regular basis.

Parents forum

The parent forum is the platform for parenthood. It forms the connection between parents and teaching staff. The parent forum is made up of representatives from all classes and meets once in the quintal and as required.

Exchange

The placement office serves to mediate in conflicts between people involved in the school. It has 4 members and is composed equally of parenthood and college. Members can be nominated for election by parents, students and the college.

Quality development

For its quality management, the Atelierschule Zurich works with the internationally recognized method " Paths to Quality" . The auditing and certification is carried out by the company Confidentia , which is approved by the Swiss accreditation body SAS for the independent certification of the quality procedure. After the initial audit in 2009, the school was certified. It annually between audits instead. In 2012 the school was recertified.

Courses

Students from both courses attend grades 10–12 in an integrative way. To obtain the Matura, the 13th grade follows.

Matura course

From the 11th grade onwards, students in the Matura course take additional lessons in foreign languages ​​and natural sciences. You can choose between all three studios (main subjects).

IMS course
