Athanasius Georgijević

Athanasius Georgijević ( Athanasius Georgiceus , * around 1590 in Split , † around 1640 ) was a Croatian poet and composer.

Georgijević studied in Split and at the Ferdinandeum in Graz . As a diplomat in the service of Archduke Ferdinand, who later became Emperor Ferdinand II , he traveled to Poland , Russia and Bosnia . He brought out a collection of Croatian sacred chants under the title Songs for the most important, holiest and most joyful days of the year .
