Atlantic is an open source - computer game - clone of the classic board game Monopoly . It was designed for the KDE desktop system.
Development of the game began in 1998 under the name KMonop and the latest version 0.7.5 was included in KDE 3.4 from early 2005. A GTK porting called GtkAtlantic comes from Erik Bourget .
Atlantik was named after the Atlantic City Monopoly board game, where, as was common for KDE applications at the time, the c in Atlantic was replaced by a k .
It can be played against other players via LAN or the Internet using a monopd server. The network game allows users to create “rooms” in which most of the rules can be adjusted. Players can enter these rooms to play against other Atlantic players.
A special feature of Atlantik is that the map being played on can be designed with the Atlantikdesigner program.
