Atomic Aggressor is a Chilean death metal band from Santiago de Chile , which was founded in 1985, disbanded in 1992 and has been active again since 2007.

history

The band was formed in 1985 and has only been seriously active since 1988. In 1989 a first demo was recorded, after which the drummer Patricio "Pato" Leiva left the band. After a long search, Pablo Clares was added as a replacement, with whom the second demo had been recorded. After a few appearances, Clares also left the band. The group then started looking for a new drummer again, but it came to a breakup in 1992.

In 2007 the band was asked if they would like to perform at a festival in Santiago with Obituary , Sadus and Watain . At the same time, a Japanese label released a compilation of the first demos, but without the band's approval. Atomic Aggressor then decided to get back together and release an official demo compilation called Rise of the Ancient Ones . In 2013 the live album Live Ceremonial was released . The befriended band Torturer recorded a DVD at the same concert and offered Atomic Aggressor to use the technology as well. Through the former drummer Pablo Clares, the group then reached a contract with Hells Headbangers Records , about which the debut album Sights of Suffering was released in 2014 .

style

Sebastian Schilling from Rock Hard compared Sights of Suffering with Morbid Angels Altars of Madness . Enrique Zúñiga stated in an interview with Schilling that the influences of the band besides Possessed and the early Morbid Angel are also Slayer , Sodom and Celtic Frost . However, he found a comparison with the Morbid Angel album Abominations of Desolation or Seven Churches by Possessed more appropriate. In the same issue, Schilling reviewed Sights of Suffering and also drew a comparison with Morbid Angel. The sound carrier was "appropriately mangy", but well implemented. The singing is a "hoarse grunt" and comparable to the young David Vincent . The music is recommended for fans of Morbid Angel, Possessed, Coffin Texts , Altars and Domains .
