The Myitnge flows into the Irrawaddy next to the city of Ava . The city of Sagaing is located directly opposite the estuary .
About 50 km southeast of Sagaing, the Myitnge is dammed by the Yeywa dam to form a reservoir. Another dam is planned for the upper reaches of the Myitnge in the Kyaukme district.
