Atomic Betty is a Canadian animated series produced by Teletoon , Atomic Cartoons , Breakthrough Films & Television , and Tele Images Kids .
action
The series is about Betty, an actually normal twelve-year-old, red-haired girl. She goes to school, watches science fiction films, sings in a band and enjoys meeting up with friends Noah and Paloma. She has normal everyday problems like any girl and these include boys, friends and Penelope, who never misses an opportunity to beat up or embarrass Betty. She lives in a house with her mother, father and cat.
But on top of her normal problems, there are other problems, because what no one except her grandmother knows is that she is a superhero, a so-called galactic law enforcer. As Atomic Betty, she fights against super villains. The pilot Sparky, a green alien, is a bit clumsy, but a real friend and always there when Betty needs him, and the robot named X-5 accompanies her through her adventures and fights with her against the most dangerous alien super villains, like for example against the evil Maximus IQ and his lackeys Minimus, who want to rule over the whole galaxy and are not afraid to destroy the headquarters. Other enemies are the evil baby alien infantor, the ice witch Iciklea, who doesn't shy away from turning everything and everyone into ice, the mad scientist Doctor Cerebral with his evil inventions, or other thieves, crooks and space bandits.
Whenever trouble threatens in the galaxy, Betty's bracelet rings and she gets an order from the chief of the galactic law enforcement officers, Admiral DeGill, who looks like a goldfish, then Betty transforms into Atomic Betty and is beamed aboard her spaceship.
There are some strange similarities between the life of Betty Barrett and the life of Atomic Betty: e.g. B. Sparky, X-5, and the spaceship are toys, Maximus IQ is a reincarnation of the sneaky house cat, and Admiral DeGill is a fish in an aquarium.
Often references are made to other films, e.g. B. Star Wars, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Indiana Jones, ET, The Exorcist, The Desert Planet, The Matrix, The Graduation, Spiderman, The Little Horror Shop, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Fly, Phantom of the Opera, MIB III, The Hobbit , King Kong and the music video Thriller.
