Colin R. Fox (born November 20, 1938 in Aldershot , Ontario , Canada ) is a Canadian actor and speaker .

Life

Fox graduated from the National Theater School of Canada. He had his first major roles in the late 1960s as Aramis in a television adaptation of Alexandre Dumas' The Three Musketeers (alongside Christopher Walken and Kenneth Welsh ) and in a double role as Jean Paul Desmond and Jacques Eloi Des Mondes in the 195 episodes comprehensive CBC - television series Strange Paradise . This was followed by roles in more than 130 film and television productions as leading and supporting actors.

In addition to his film and television work, Colin Fox is also an established stage actor. He performed at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in 1982 , played Sir Nathaniel in Love's Labor's Lost with the Circle Repertory Company (1984) and Craig in Anteroom with the Playwrights Horizons (1985).

He had other roles in Tiny Alice (Crest Theater, Toronto ), in the Broadway production of Hugh Whitemore's Pack of Lies , in Henry VI and as a narrator in the musicals Hansel and Gretel and Peter and the Wolf .

Fox became known to a wide audience in the role of Professor Anton Hendricks in the television series PSI Factor - It Happens Every Day . He is also known for portraying the Swiss Fritz Brenner in the television series A Nero Wolfe Mystery (2001-2002) and its pilot film The Golden Spiders: A Nero Wolfe Mystery (2000).

In 2005 Fox was nominated for the Canadian Gemini Television Award for Best Individual Performance in a Comedy Program or Series ; he received the nomination for his portrayal in the episode Buttons the Dresser of the television series Puppets Who Kill .

In addition to his work on stage, on screen and on television, Fox is also a sought-after speaker in Canada and the United States. He reads audio books and radio plays , sets documentaries to music (including for the Discovery Channel ), works for the radio and gives his voice to numerous characters from cartoon series and video games .

Fox lives with his wife Carol in a stone farmhouse in Fergus, near Toronto, built in the 1860s. They have a daughter named Sarah.
