Cross of Merit

The Latvian Cross of Merit ( Latvian Atzinības krusts ) is a civil merit order that can be awarded to all domestic and foreign nationals who stand up for special patriotism and for special merits at the state level, in social, cultural, scientific work as well as in the areas of sport and Excellent education.

The order consists of five classes and two special decorations (these in three degrees - gold, silver or bronze)

The medal has the shape of a Maltese cross and is white enameled. The cross tips are each covered with small balls. In the middle of the cross a gold-rimmed medallion.

The ribbon is red with silver stripes.

The motto of the order is Godaprāta ļaudīm (men of honor).
