The Ministry of Foreign Trade North Korea , the Ministry for Foreign Trade of the Socialist People's Republic and is located on the south side of Kim Il-sung Square , and west of the Sungri Street in the district Chung-guyok in Pyongyang .

North Korea's first Chamber of Commerce is located on the ground floor of the building and maintains international contacts for over a hundred state-owned companies.

Previous foreign trade ministers included Kang Chŏng-mo , Ri Kwang-gŭn and Ri Ryong-nam .

The German Hanns Seidel Foundation , which has been active in North Korea since 2003, is an official partner of the Foreign Trade Ministry. The Friedrich Naumann Foundation, which is also German, has been advising the Foreign Trade Ministry on developing a legal framework since 2004 to attract foreign companies as investors.

Building

The building was built in 1955. It has five floors. The flag of the Labor Party of Korea is depicted on the roof above the entrance area with a hammer, brush and sickle. Up until the summer of 2012, portraits of the philosopher Karl Marx and Lenins were attached to the facade of the main front .
