Audrius Butkevičius
Audrius Butkevičius (born September 24, 1960 in Kaunas ) is a Lithuanian politician, the first national defense minister of Lithuania .
Life
After graduating from secondary school in Kaunas in 1978 , Butkevičius studied medicine at the Kauno medicinos institutas in 1986 . From 1980 to 1986 he worked as a research assistant at the Zigmas Januškevičius Institute, from 1986 to 1987 as a doctor in Viešintos ( Anykščiai district ), and from 1988 to 1989 in the Kaunas district . From 1988 he was a member of Sąjūdis , from 1990 to 1992 and 1996-2000 member of the Seimas and Minister. In 1997 he was arrested for fraud . He then worked as a consultant for political technology companies as director of the “Cancosus Development Center”.
From 2007 to 2011 he was a member of the Vilnius City Council for the Tvarka ir teisingumas .
