To Schalke

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There was a television program on Schalke on German Sports Television ( DSF ) from 1997 to 2002. The program was hosted by Ulli Potofski . The program dealt almost exclusively with the environment and current events at the German Bundesliga club FC Schalke 04 .

At the beginning of 2002 the program was stopped. Manager Rudi Assauer justified this step with a lack of profitability, which is neither acceptable for the club nor for the main sponsor Veltins .

The program was followed by an average of 350,000 viewers, in some cases it even reached an audience rating of 550,000. In the end it sank to just 100,000 viewers. A total of 71 programs were broadcast.

Surname

The name of the program "auf Schalke" refers to a localization of the club in the Schalke district of the city of Gelsenkirchen, which was adopted from the miner's language in the Ruhr area German . Schalke fans who go to the stadium often say they went “to Schalke” and not “to Schalke” or “to Schalke”. The expression can be traced back to the earlier miners' jargon in the Ruhr area. A miner worked "on a colliery" and not " in a colliery ". Since Schalke 04 was originally founded by miners and was closely associated with mining, the linguistic expression that is still used today was adopted.
