Rising moon

The Rising Moon is a sculpture in Bremen - center in front of the entrance facade of the former post office 5 , An der Weide 50, at Bremen Central Station . It is included in the list of monuments and statues of the city of Bremen .

The large, round plastic disc with a diameter of 9 meters was designed in 1990 by the Linz architect Manfred Ortner . The sculpture was created in collaboration with the Austrian artist group Haus-Rucker-Co .

The large blue moon disk is supported by long supports made of hot-dip galvanized steel tubing. The cultural authority writes: “In the evening the pane is illuminated from below and the 'moon' appears in its brightness as in the sky. The telephone booth that just happened to be part of the total work of art ”.

The property was created in the course of the renovation of the post office and was located on Gustav-Deetjen-Allee / corner of An der Weide until 2000.
