August Freytag

August Freytag , also spelled August Freitag (* 1823 ; † May 17, 1889 in Elberfeld ), was a renowned jeweler in Elberfeld and a patron .

The August Freytag jewelery, gold, silverware and watch shop at Morianstrasse 17 had existed since January 1, 1819. In auctions of high-quality watches and silverware, Freytag is sometimes mentioned as the former owner. In addition, he was a member and patron of the Elberfeld Beautification Association, and from February 1879 he was a member of the board.

After his death, part of his estate was donated to the association. The Villa Freytag at Friedrichsberg came in 1908 with the financial support of the club owned by the city of Elberfeld.
