August Guyer

August Guyer (born July 29, 1897 in Uster , † April 26, 1980 in Zurich ) was a Swiss chemist. He was Professor of Technical Chemistry at the ETH Zurich .

Guyer received his doctorate in chemistry from the ETH Zurich in 1922 (further contributions to knowledge of taxine ) and from 1923 he was in the Association for Chemical and Metallurgical Production in Aussig . From 1927 to 1931 he was in charge of the construction of the Czechoslovak nitrogen works in Mährisch-Ostrau. From 1931 he was a full professor for inorganic chemical technology at the ETH Zurich. There he was temporarily head of the Institute for Inorganic Chemistry.

He received the DECHEMA medal in 1976 .

There is another August Guyer who received his doctorate in chemistry at the ETH Zurich in 1946 (with Guyer).
