Georgi Pavlovich Timchenko ( Russian Георгий Павлович Тимченко , Ukrainian Георгій Павлович Тимченко / Heorhiy Pawlowytsch Tymtschenko * 8. December 1912 in Luhansk , † 23. March 1991 in Moscow ) was a Soviet Rear Admiral . From 1967 to 1970 he headed in Baku , the Caspian Red Banner Military Academy naval SM Kirov the Soviet Seekriegsflotte as their 10th commander.

Life

Timchenko began his service in the naval fleet in September 1930 as a student at the Frunze Naval Officer School and completed it in July 1934. In 1940 he became a member of the CPSU . From 1934 to 1935 he served as chief officer on a torpedo speedboat , from March to June 1935 as adjutant to the commander of the 3rd Sea Brigade, from June 1935 to September 1936 as a squad leader , from September 1936 to February 1939 as a group leader and then until April 1942 as chief of staff of a torpedo speedboat division of the Pacific Fleet . He graduated from the command faculty of the Voroshilov Naval War Academy in January 1944 with "distinction" after a two-year visit.

As a participant in the Great Patriotic War , he was from January 1944 to April 1946 as chief of staff of a torpedo speedboat brigade of the Baltic Fleet and from April 1946 to September 1947 of the 4th Baltic Fleet. He then commanded the 1st Torpedo Speedboat Brigade of the 4th Fleet until November 1948. This was followed by an activity in the Headquarters for Reconnaissance of the General Staff of the Armed Forces from November 1949 to July 1949. Timchenko worked for the following three years as a naval attaché at the Soviet embassy in Great Britain . On his return he became commander of the 25th Torpedo Speedboat Division (1952 to 1954). In 1953 he was appointed rear admiral. After another visit to the Naval War Academy from November 1954 to September 1956, he worked for three years at the Soviet embassy in Turkey as a naval attaché. From December 1959 to December 1960 he commanded the Amur River Fleet Base and from 1960 to 1962 a shipbuilding and maintenance brigade of the Pacific Fleet. From July 1962 to March 1964 he headed a Black Sea Fleet training group . From March 1964 to February 1967 he served as deputy commander of the Caspian Higher Officers School and then took over its management until his retirement in October 1970.
