Fyodor Yakovlevich Akimov

Fyodor Jakowlewitsch Akimow ( Russian Федор Яковлевич Акимов ; born February 13, 1909 , † September 29, 1966 in Baku ) was a Soviet rear admiral . From 1963 to 1966 he was the 9th Commander of the Caspian Higher Officers School of the Soviet Naval Fleet in Baku.

Life

Akimov entered active military service in 1931 and, after graduating from the MW Frunze officer's school, was one of the first speedboat drivers to be commanded to the Far East. In Vladivostok he was the commander of a speedboat of a torpedo speedboat brigade. In autumn 1935 he was used as the commander of a torpedo speedboat group. From 1939, Kapitänleutnant Akimow commanded the 9th Separate Torpedo Speedboat Division in the fortified area of Nikolayevsk on the Amur until the end of the Great Patriotic War . Akimov's division took an active part in the fighting for the liberation of South Sakhalin and the Kuriles .

After the end of the war he attended the Naval War Academy from 1953 and was employed in various positions in the fleet. Akimov, who was promoted to Rear Admiral on November 3, 1953, was commander of the Vladimir-Olga naval base from 1956 to 1958. In the last years of his life he served from February 1963 to September 1966 as commander of the Caspian Naval War School. Akimov was buried in the Bogoslovskoye Cemetery in Leningrad .
