August Häussermann

August Häussermann (* 1887 in Cannstatt ; † 1954 in Stuttgart ) was a trained mechanical engineer at the mechanical engineering school in Esslingen .

After completing his studies, he worked as an assistant to Robert Bosch , then as operations manager at the press manufacturer Schuler AG in Göppingen. There August Häussermann developed the concept of producing plates as wear parts of clutches and gears, such as their plates, in a new way in their own production facilities.

1927, August Häussermann the company L amellen- u nd K upplungsbau August Häussermann in Esslingen-Mettingen, from which the LuK GmbH & Co. KG in Buhl / Baden and Häussermann slats GmbH emerged. Under the brand name “LuK”, the company produced clutch plates for the automotive industry, for locomotive transmissions and aircraft engines as well as for general mechanical engineering. The product range quickly expanded to include lamellae for motorcycles. Soon LuK also manufactured complete multi-disc clutches for machine and vehicle construction. His son Kurt Häussermann joined the company in 1939 as technical director.
