August Milbrecht

August Milbrecht ( Lithuanian Augustas Milbrechtas ) (born April 14, 1864 in Robkojen in Tilsit district ; † April 12, 1942 ) was a farmer and politician in the Memel region .

Life

Milbrecht attended elementary school from 1871 to 1878 and then worked on his father's farm until 1884. From 1884 to 1886 he did military service. In 1891 he took over his parents' farm and lived as a farmer in Robkojen, where he was mayor from 1898 to 1910. He was a member of the parish council of the parish Rattkischken and earned services in building the church. He married in 1892 and had 11 children.

After the battle of Gumbinnen (1914), large parts of East Prussia were occupied by Imperial Russian troops . On December 13th, his farm was ransacked by Russian troops and his family was taken prisoner. They returned after three months. After the reconquest by German troops, the farm was rebuilt.

After the war he became involved in the Memelland Chamber of Agriculture and the Memelland Agriculture Party . For this he was elected to the Seimas in the constituency of Memelland in 1926 . In Parliament he was a member of the Agriculture and Forestry Committee.
