Andreas August Zierfuß (born December 20, 1803 in Frankenhausen ; † November 18, 1867 there ) was a German needleworker and entrepreneur.

He came from the long-established needle maker family of Gottfried Christian Zierfuß and Marie Elisabeth Jahn (third marriage). In contrast to button makers, who made buttons from fabric and horsehair, needles also made metal buttons in addition to needles.

On his wanderings he learned about the production of mother- of- pearl buttons in the Vienna suburb of Ottakring . Around 1831 he opened the first mother-of-pearl button factory in Frankenhausen. Later, buttons made of plastic and wood were also made. In 1863 there were eight factories and in 1880 even 23 factories in Frankenhausen. According to an invention by the pharmacist Martin, Zierfuß used mother-of-pearl black stain .

In 1833 he married Anna Sophie Spangenberg, with whom he had five children: Christiane Friederike Pauline Zierfuß (* July 4, 1833), Caroline Amalie Auguste Zierfuß (* March 25, 1835), Johann Friedrich Albert Zierfuß (* September 8, 1836), Ludwig Albrecht Zierfuß (born June 13, 1838) and Friederike Wilhelmine Louise Zierfuß (born September 13, 1843) had.
